GSK is a British multinational pharmaceutical company headquartered in Brentford, England. GSK was the world's sixth-largest pharmaceutical company, according to Forbes as of 2019, and the tenth-largest pharmaceutical company on the Fortune 500 list of 2019. We designed a MicroSite for GSK, which speaks about its rich history and legacy products, making GSK Unique from other pharmaceutical companies.

Interactive microsite for a pharmaceutical giant.

The Challenge

GSK needed an out-of-the-box creative site for the 'History & Portfolio' page of their website. This needed to be unique, creative and needed to leave a lasting impression on the visitors. This page was extremely important to them as this was going to display GSK's rich history alongside its successful lineup of products. They wanted to explain their progress story with this website.

Our Solution

Our solution was to design an interactive microsite that had a horizontal scroll and auto-played the visual elements - specifically tailored for GSK's unique proposition of telling a comprehensive visual story and product lineup to their visitors. We worked towards designing the sections and pages in a way that the content could be aptly presented along with creatively styled images to complement the storytelling.

Our Process

Once we had a complete understanding of the content and storyline, the UX process began with a focus on dividing the history into different chapters representing particular time frames in the past and how to display the necessitated information for each. We then worked on their portfolio part and defined the ways in which things like development timelines, worldwide impact, and videos of their products could be displayed there too.

We were provided with a basic design guideline - a set of Colours and a set of fonts to use as per GSK's baseline branding. We then had to work on top of those to identify the visual style and identity for this interactive microsite. The visual design here had to look modern with a sense of history or legacy to suit the overall tone of the story and storytelling.

Georgia & Arial

The major font used was 'Georgia' for headings with 'Arial' for supporting/regular text. This combination of fonts was included in the baseline branding kit provided to us by GSK. Georgia being a Serif font, paired very well with the Sans Serif - Arial and aided the visual design language of being historic or backed by a grand legacy.
